Thanksgiving Day

Thanksgiving Day is a harvest festival celebrated primarily in the United States and Canada. Thanksgiving is a holiday to express thankfulness, gratitude, and appreciation to God, family and friends for which all have been blessed of material possessions and relationships. Traditionally, it has been a time to give thanks for a bountiful harvest. This holiday has since moved away from its religious roots.

In the United States, Thanksgiving Day falls on the fourth Thursday of November. In Canada it is celebrated on the second Monday in October.

The precise historical origin of the holiday is disputed. Although Americans commonly believe that the first Thanksgiving happened in 1621, at Plymouth Plantation, in Massachusetts, there is strong evidence for earlier celebrations in Canada (1578) and by Spanish explorers in Florida (1565).

Thanksgiving Day is also celebrated in the Netherlands. A different holiday which uses the same name is celebrated at a similar time of year in the island of Grenada.

This famous grey and white feline with a glint in his impish eyes was originally known as Jasper. He was part of a cat and mouse team created by master animators William Hanna and Joseph Barbera. They made their debut in 1939 in the animated cartoon, "Puss Gets The Boot" They soon became the focus of a series of short animated films produced from 1940 to 1948 by the Hollywood studio of Metro- Goldwyn-Mayer. Tom is fixated if not obsessed in modern terms) on the antics of his housemate, a little brown mouse named Jerry. Tom's career, which consists basically of napping and eating, is often sacrificed by thoughts about how to capture his elusive nemesis. He never succeeds because Jerry may be smaller, but he is also smarter.

Tom and Jerry is a series of animated theatrical shorts created by William Hanna and Joseph Barbera for Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer that centered on a never-ending rivalry between a housecat (Tom) and a mouse (Jerry) whose chases and battles often involved comic violence. Hanna and Barbera ultimately wrote and directed one hundred and fourteen Tom and Jerry cartoons at the MGM cartoon studio in Hollywood, California between 1940 and 1957, when the animation unit was closed. The original series is notable for having won the Academy Awards for Best Short Subject (Cartoons) seven times, tying it with Walt Disney's Silly Symphonies as the theatrical animated series with the most Oscars.

Beginning in 1960, in addition to the originals MGM had new shorts produced by Rembrandt Films, led by Gene Deitch in Eastern Europe. Production of Tom and Jerry shorts returned to Hollywood under Chuck Jones's Sib-Tower 12 Productions in 1963; this series lasted until 1967, making it a total of 161 shorts. The cat and mouse stars later resurfaced in television cartoons produced by Hanna-Barbera and Filmation Studios during the 1970s, 1980s, and 1990s, a feature film, Tom and Jerry: The Movie, in 1992 and released domestically in 1993 and in 2000, their first made-for TV short, Tom and Jerry: The Mansion Cat for Cartoon Network. The most recent Tom and Jerry theatrical short, The KarateGuard, was written and co-directed by co-creator Joe Barbera and debuted in Los Angeles cinemas on September 27, 2005.

Today, Time Warner (via its Turner Entertainment division) owns the rights to Tom and Jerry (with Warner Bros. handling distribution). Since the merger, Turner has produced the series, Tom and Jerry Tales for The CW's Saturday morning "The CW4Kids" lineup, as well as the recent Tom and Jerry short, The KarateGuard, in 2005 and a string of Tom and Jerry direct-to-video films - all in collaboration with Warner Bros. Animation.

classic cartoons

Well I would like to talk about growing up during the 90s and watching the most kick ass cartoons in history.I absolutely loved my childhood, but I think now I'm older I feel very lucky I had the chance to watch cartoons from the 80s. They were still airing durings the 90s but were slowly fading away with new ones coming in.

I had so many favourite cartoons, some of which were on a lot, but others replacing them that wern't so good which was pretty disappointing. My favourites will not come as a surprise. Thundercats, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, He-Man, The Real Ghostbusters, Inspector Gadget, Bravestar, Dungeons and Dragons, Visionaries and the one and only Transformers.

The 80s were obviously a time of action, and so was the 90s but it didn't have the same impact. The 80s captured great action sequences, fantastic characters and memorable heroes, and of course the villains. The writers and producers of the shows definitely managed to come up with great stories of where and when the characters come from and they always managed to show compelling viewing for us kids.

The 90s cartoons carried on from the 80s and had some good cartoons of their own, but they never really gave the same expierence watching them to the older ones. Some were never on TV for too long. I'm not sure if any one else watched them as well, but they were underrated in my opinion. Lengend of Zelda, Conan the Barbarian, Captain Planet, The Pirates of Dark Waters, Robocop and Mighty Max.

I think that the 90s was best for bringing the super heroes to another level, showing the excitement that they had in the comics onto the screen and getting bigger audiences like myself. They were all amazing cartoons that captured the greatness of the characters in full flow and Spiderman was my favorite.

cartoon hearts

What would you do if you suddenly find yourself transported to an alien planet of cartoon heart creatures? Yup, a world of heart-shaped cartoon characters—from cartoon-heart people to cartoon-heart puppies—living and breathing just like us Earthlings.

It happened to my three friends Bernard Barker, Ralph Barker, Axl Poindexter, and me, last summer.

My name is Yeri Lee, a.k.a. Yiip! of the superhero pack TAEKWONDOGGS and this website is all about cartoon heart creatures and our amazing adventures in Heartoonia.

It all began when cartoon-heart monsters from the uncanny world of Heartoonia abducted, and caged us to be, of all things, their “slave dogs.”

(C’mon, we’re part humans, part dogs, and full superheroes for crying out loud!)

Stick around, explore, and discover the secrets of the world of cartoon hearts. It is not only weirder than you imagine, it is weirder than you can imagine.

You’ll get to know the cute and outlandish (for lack of a better word to describe them) Heartoons, the cartoon heart creatures that we’ve encountered.

Of course, I’ll tell you their stories. They will blow you away, I swear.

I even illustrated some of my favorite Heartoons (Okay, maybe close but not quite. But I did my best. Really.).

And yes, if you subscribe to my newsletter or join my blog, you may download cool clip art, wallpaper, comics, animation, games, and other cartoon heart stuff for free.

You want to check out what I’m talking about? Here’s my first batch of cartoon heart freebies for you:
